In Ukraine, drivers were reminded of the ban on using certain letters on car license plates.

The main service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that license plates not only contain technical information, but also reflect the unique features of each country. Different countries have their own rules regarding the format of numbers, in particular, regarding the arrangement of numbers and permissible letters.

From April 2023, new requirements for car numbers came into force in Ukraine. According to them, it is forbidden to use the letters Z and V during the production of individual numbers. This applies both to the separate use of these letters and to their replacement by Cyrillic symbols З, С, В or Ф in words. This decision was made in order to avoid the appearance of symbols that can be associated with Russian aggression or propaganda.

France also has clear license plate restrictions. The format there consists of four letters and three numbers separated by hyphens (for example, AB-123-CD). To avoid confusion when identifying vehicles, the letters I, O and U are prohibited in France because they resemble numbers: I resembles 1, O is 0, and U can be confused with V.

Special attention was paid to the prohibition of the combination of the letters SS in French license plates, as it is associated with the Nazi organization Schutzstaffel. The use of such symbols is considered a criminal offense in France.
