EU expands investigation into Elon Musk's X-Network days before Trump's inauguration

The European Commission said on Friday it was expanding its investigation into whether Elon Musk-led social network X violated EU rules on content moderation.

This was reported on Friday by the American agency Reuters.

“Today we are taking the next steps to shed light on the extent to which X’s recommender systems comply with the obligations under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA),” said EU Commissioner for Digital Affairs Genna Virkunen.

The publication also notes that Elon Musk himself, an ally of Trump, has repeatedly come into conflict with EU regulators. Moreover, he has expressed open support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in next month's elections, as well as the British right-wing Reform Party. Some European politicians have accused Musk of interfering in the electoral process.
