Experienced farmers can turn literally anything they have on their summer cottage into useful fertilizer, including wood chips. There are three ways to fertilize the soil based on the use of sawdust.
Mulching
Sawdust can be used as mulch for garden and vegetable crops. As an independent means, the layer of shavings should not be higher than 1-2 centimeters.
However, it is better to mix sawdust with hay or leaves or even sprinkle another mulch on top.
Tracks
Even if you use sawdust to spray paths, it can transfer nutrients to the plants grown on the site.
Humus
In order for sawdust to turn into humus, it is necessary to maintain its humidity at a high level. This is how microscopic fungi and other microorganisms will multiply in it, which will make the idea a reality.
In addition, you can add sawdust to the compost by mixing it with grass or manure, alternating layers of wood chips and other organic matter, and adding a nutrient mixture that will speed up processing.
