The newly elected president held a rally on the eve of his inauguration.
President-elect Donald Trump held his final rally before his inauguration on January 20. Speaking at the Capitol One Arena in downtown Washington, D.C., Trump touched on the usual topics of his campaign, including TikTok, the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the Los Angeles wildfires and his plans to issue executive orders on the first day of his second term, CNN reported.
End of the war
Trump promised to stop the war in Ukraine and prevent World War III.
“I will end the war in Ukraine. I will stop the chaos in the Middle East. I will prevent World War III,” Trump declared at a rally in Washington.
TikTok
Trump said the popular TikTok app was back in the US after a temporary shutdown ahead of a ban that was set to take effect on Sunday. He said:
"As of today, TikTok is back. Honestly, we have no choice, we have to save it."
Trump promised to issue an executive order after his inauguration to delay the introduction of legislation to sell or ban the app.
Ceasefire Agreement
The president-elect took credit for reaching a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas:
"This week we reached a monumental ceasefire agreement as the first step towards lasting peace in the Middle East. And this agreement could only happen as a result of our historic victory in November."
He stressed that this temporary cessation of hostilities also allowed the release of hostages.
Wildfires in Los Angeles
Trump expressed support for those affected by the wildfires that caused serious damage to Los Angeles:
"I want to send my support to those affected. I'm going there on Friday to see the fire and get it moving."
He hinted at his intention to accelerate reconstruction work and improve the situation in the region.
Plans for decrees
In conclusion, Trump promised active action immediately after the inauguration:
"Every radical and stupid decree of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours of me taking the oath."
