The agreement will include several key areas, particularly in the security sector, which will provide Armenia with more reliable tools to protect its sovereignty.
Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ani Badalyan said that Yerevan and Washington will sign a strategic partnership agreement on January 14. This was reported by Echo of the Caucasus.
It is noted that in June 2024, following the results of the Armenian-American Strategic Dialogue meeting, the governments of the two countries adopted a joint statement of intent to elevate the bilateral strategic dialogue to the level of strategic partnership.
The leader of the "In the Name of the Republic" party, Arman Babajanyan, said the day before that the agreement would include several key areas, particularly in the security sector, which would provide Armenia with more reliable tools to protect its sovereignty.
As a reminder, the Armenian government, at its meeting on January 9, approved a draft law on the beginning of the country's accession process to the European Union. The draft law will then be submitted to the country's parliament.
