Armed conflict at the state level, in particular the war in Ukraine, is the most pressing problem for 2025. This conclusion was reached by about a quarter of the 900 experts surveyed during the preparation of the annual report on global risks of the World Economic Forum (WEF) before the new meeting in Davos on January 23, Bloomberg reports.

It is noted that concerns about war as an immediate risk became even more prominent after Trump publicly made ending the war in Ukraine his priority.

“War is the main issue worrying risk experts, despite the promise of new US President Donald Trump to end military action in Ukraine,” the publication states.

The second-highest risk in the report is extreme weather events. In the longer term, two years, the main concern of the experts surveyed is related to disinformation. And in the 10-year perspective, they named extreme weather conditions and biodiversity loss as the main risks.

WEF Managing Director Mirek Duszek said that “rising geopolitical tensions, a global trust rift and the climate crisis are straining the global system like never before”:

Recall, Bloomberg previously wrote, citing European officials, that Trump is unlikely to force Kyiv into premature negotiations with Russia. It was noted that there are reasons to believe that the future administration of the US president could help Ukraine return to a position of strength before the negotiations begin.
