If the German parliamentary elections were held soon, the center-right CDU/CSU alliance led by Friedrich Merz would win, according to a YouGov poll, Bloomberg reports.
It is noted that currently support for the CDU/CSU is 30%, which is one percentage point more than the results of the previous public opinion survey showed.
Meanwhile, the center-left Social Democratic Party of Germany, led by current Chancellor Olaf Scholz, rose two points to 18%. But second place remains with the far-right Alternative for Germany (21%), while the Greens remain in fourth place with 14%.
“The BSW – a far-left alliance founded last year – is the only other party that would overcome the 5% threshold to win seats in parliament,” the publication writes.
