Moldova has introduced new border crossing requirements for drivers of vehicles with foreign registration. Now a mandatory condition is the presence of a valid technical inspection certificate. According to the State Border Guard Service, this requirement was introduced in accordance with the Road Traffic Rules, approved by the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Moldova dated May 13, 2009 No. 357. From now on, drivers of foreign vehicles planning to enter Moldova are required to have a valid technical inspection certificate for their car. This document confirms that the vehicle has passed the necessary inspection and meets safety requirements. In its absence, Moldovan border guards will refuse to cross the border.

The new rules are designed to improve road safety and ensure control of the technical condition of vehicles entering the country. Drivers are advised to check all necessary documents in advance to avoid possible difficulties at the border.

Under the new rules, drivers who do not have a valid MOT certificate may be required to return or undergo additional inspections to confirm the technical condition of their vehicle. This once again emphasizes the need for timely MOT checks before traveling to Moldova.
