On Galindez Island, where the Ukrainian Antarctic Research Station "Akademik Vernadskyi" is located, baby penguins continue to be born.

The National Antarctic Science Center has published a video showing the process of feeding babies. The video was shot by Vitaly Kaminsky, a member of the 29th expedition.

"After the chick asks for food, the adult penguin "delivers" partially digested food (primarily krill) from the esophagus to the beak, and the chick eats it from there," the polar explorers explain the process.

Currently, about a thousand chicks have been born near "Vernadsky" and most families have two babies each.

"They are very different now: some have just hatched, and some are already huge and almost the size of their parents," said Svetozar Davydenko, a biologist of the 29th UAE.

But the number of penguins on Galindez will grow, because some of the nests still have eggs.
