Trump's allies and advisers warned Danish officials about the seriousness of his words regarding Greenland.
A group of Republicans in the US House of Representatives has prepared a bill that would give Donald Trump, who has repeatedly spoken about it, legal authority to buy Greenland, Fox News reported on Monday, January 13.
In particular, Tennessee Republican Andy Ogles, along with 10 fellow party members, proposed a bill called the "Make Greenland Great Again Act."
It provides that the current US president will be able to begin negotiations with Denmark on the purchase of Greenland immediately after his inauguration, and after concluding an agreement, notify Congress (as the administrator of budget funds) about this.
“American economic and security interests will no longer be pushed to the background, and Republicans in the House of Representatives are ready to help Trump succeed in the interests of the American people,” Ogles explained in an interview with Fox News.
In turn, US Vice President-elect in Donald Trump's administration, J.D. Vance, stated that the American authorities do not need to use military force in Greenland, but "a deal can be made" regarding the island.
In addition, earlier the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, reacted to the statements of the elected US President Donald Trump about the possibility of using force to take control of Greenland, saying that he "cannot imagine such a thing".
