"Tomorrow there will be no classes at Eindhoven University of Technology due to a cyber attack," the message reads.
It is noted that the university has disconnected the internal network. Also, students and employees will not have access to their emails. Because of this, they cannot properly prepare for the exams.
The university has not released details about the cyber attack.
“We're still assessing the situation...Since 21:00 p.m. local time yesterday, we've seen a lot of suspicious activity online. At night, we turned off the servers," said a university representative.
It is currently unknown who is behind the attack. The police are investigating. The university's IT experts are also studying the nature and scale of the attack.
The university expects systems to be restored no earlier than Tuesday. The university plans to release more information tomorrow.
At the end of 2019, Maastricht University also fell victim to a cyberattack that brought systems to a standstill. It was a ransomware attack. A week later, the university decided to pay a ransom of 200 euros.
