Tens of thousands of protesters, led by students, held a rally outside the headquarters of state broadcaster RTS in the Serbian capital Belgrade on Friday, protesting what they said was the broadcaster's pro-government bias.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Associated Press reported on this.

One of the largest demonstrations in recent years was against the pro-government bias of the Serbian broadcaster RTS and is part of wider protests that began after part of the roof of the train station in the city of Novi Sad collapsed.

Protesters expressed outrage that the state broadcaster was broadcasting statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, who claimed that the students received funds from foreign intelligence services and were trying to overthrow him and the government by force. Protesters blew whistles during the rally.

The demonstrators observed a minute of silence for each of the 15 victims of the train station roof collapse. They also chanted demands for a nationwide general strike.

The rally came a day after one of the students was seriously injured when a car drove into a crowd of protesters.
