Poland wants to pass a law that will complicate a possible exit from the European Union

The Polish Sejm will consider a bill that will make Poland's possible exit from the EU as difficult as possible.

This was announced on Friday by Marshal of the Polish Sejm Szymon Golovnia, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As the speaker of the lower house of the Polish parliament noted, a bill to prevent a possible Polexit is currently being prepared (Poland's exit from the EU - ed.) and he will build a broad majority in the Sejm around this issue. The politician emphasized that times are turbulent now, and Poland's membership in the EU is "a national heritage earned by many generations of Poles."

"Poland's future is in the EU. We are in such a geopolitical place where it is impossible to be in a geopolitical vacuum. Therefore, either we will be in the European Union or we will be in Putin's zone of influence," emphasized Golovnia.

In his opinion, the choice is obvious, especially given what Putin is currently doing in Ukraine.

"If we are not in the European Union, we will formally or functionally be in the Union of Belarus and Russia. We can never allow this," emphasized the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland.

He recalled that currently, 231 votes in parliament are sufficient to leave the EU.

"No referendum, nothing else. It can't look like this. We need to install a safety net," the Polish politician emphasized.

He stressed that just as Polish society was asked in the referendum on joining the EU, the entire society should also be asked at least the same question if the question of a possible exit from the Community arises. In his opinion, this cannot be decided by 231 deputies of the lower house of parliament.
