South Korea on Monday officially dismissed four senior commanders suspected of involvement in President Yoon Suk-yeol's short-term imposition of martial law.
This is reported by Yonhap, Ukrinform reports.
The decision, made by the disciplinary committees of the Ministry of Defense and the Army, concerns the head of the Military Counterintelligence Command, Lieutenant General Yo In-hyun; the head of the Military Intelligence Command, Major General Moon Sang-ho; the head of the Capital Defense Command, Lieutenant General Lee Jin-woo; and the head of the Army Special Operations Command, Lieutenant General Kwak Jong-kyun.
The commanders are suspected of participating in operations to impose martial law on December 3.
The decision is expected to take effect on Tuesday, when the Ministry of Defense officially notifies the four commanders of its decision.
The ministry is currently conducting a legal review of possible disciplinary measures for Army Chief of Staff General Park Ahn-soo, who served as the martial law commander.
