A Russian ship near Syria has leaking fuel tanks. At the same time, the Russian Federation continues to transfer weapons and military equipment from Syria to Libya with the help of aviation, reports the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the GUR, Russian soldiers were ordered to burn all military vehicles that are inoperable and in need of repair. The Russians have had problems evacuating military property by sea - permission for Russian ships to enter the port of Tartus is still lacking.
"On January 9, 2025, Russian rear-admiral Varfolomeev Valery Vladimirovich made another unsuccessful attempt to negotiate - he was not allowed to participate in the negotiations," he said.
GUR also noted that the dry cargo ship Sparta and two large amphibious ships of the Russian Federation "Vvan Grien" and "Alexander Otrakovsky" are on the external raid of the port of Tartus. On "Otrakovsky", there were problems with the water desalinator, and the second and third fuel tanks began to leak.
The situation in Syria is the main news
According to ISW analysts, after the fall of the Assad regime, Putin may lose his military bases in Syria, and this threatens the Kremlin with serious consequences. Analysts say the loss of Russian bases in Syria is likely to disrupt Russian logistics, as well as its resupply efforts and the rotation of the Africa Corps. The operations of the Russian Federation and the projection of force in Libya and the countries of Africa south of the Sahara are particularly affected.
