A seal came into the house without permission and scared the cat

Phil Ross and his wife returned home to find their home had been visited by an unexpected guest. A young seal had taken up residence in their home in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, and was exploring the rooms. However, not all residents were happy with the uninvited guest. Their pet cat, Coco, was particularly surprised, as she clearly didn’t appreciate the company of the pinniped. It is believed that the seal entered the house through a cat hole.

A ranger from the Department of Conservation soon arrived to Phil's aid, helping him retrieve the seal and release it into the sea. As for the cat, she hid with the neighbors and did not return home until the next day, probably still under the impression of the animal's visit.

Phil, a marine biologist, explained that young seals sometimes behave like teenagers, wandering aimlessly and not always understanding where they might end up. He also added that his children had long dreamed of a new pet, but such a “hotel” would be too much for them.
