President-elect of the United States Donald Trump made a new statement about plans to end the war in Ukraine and a possible meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Reuters reports.

Asked about his strategy for ending the war, Trump told Newsmax: "Well, there's only one strategy, and it all depends on Putin. I can't imagine he's thrilled with how it turned out, because it didn't go very well for him either."

Speaking about the upcoming meeting with Putin, Trump did not name the expected dates, but noted that he plans to do so as soon as possible after taking office.

"I know he wants to meet, and I'm going to meet really soon. I would have done it sooner, but... you need to get to the office. You need to be there for some things," he said.
