US President-elect Donald Trump has made a new statement about plans to end the war in Ukraine and a possible meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Reuters reports.
Asked about his strategy for ending the war, Trump told Newsmax: “Well, there’s only one strategy, and it all depends on Putin. I can’t imagine he’s thrilled with how it turned out, because it didn’t go so well for him either.”
Speaking about the upcoming meeting with Putin, Trump did not name the expected dates, but noted that he plans to do it as soon as possible after taking office.
"I know he wants to meet, and I'm going to meet really soon. I would have done it sooner, but... you need to get to the office. Some things you need to be there for," he said.

Earlier, Congressman Michael Walz, the future US National Security Advisor, said that preparations for a meeting between Trump and Putin are already underway.
"We haven't yet determined the exact format for this, but we're working on it. But I expect at least a phone conversation in the coming days or weeks," he said.
Volz also stated that Ukraine should increase mobilization to stabilize the front line, in particular, begin mobilizing 18-year-olds.
