South Korean manufacturer SsangYong narrowly avoided bankruptcy, found a new owner and was rebranded as the new KGM brand. Now the company plans to conquer Europe with the new Actyon model.
The Brussels Motor Show saw the European debut of the new KGM Actyon, a more luxurious version of the Torres crossover from the South Korean brand.
Design
The KGM Actyon features a different roofline and redesigned front and rear, combining aspects of the Torres petrol model and the EVX electric version.
The daytime running lights, for example, are reminiscent of the combustion-engine Torres, but they are now combined with low-mounted high-beam headlights. The massive grille from the Torres has been replaced with an LED strip similar to the one installed on the EVX.
At the rear, the vertically positioned brake lights have been replaced with slim, horizontally mounted units to create a more refined and less harsh look.
Within
Inside, the new model has the same 12,3-inch infotainment and digital instrument screens as the Torres.
Initially, the Actyon will be offered with a 1,5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 161 hp. It works in tandem with a six-speed automatic transmission from the Japanese company Aisin.
KGM has yet to confirm the 204 hp electric setup and 460 km range of the Torres EVX, but it is likely to join the Actyon once the petrol car launches.
Deliveries to Europe are expected to begin next month, with prices likely to be slightly higher than the Torres but lower than direct competitors like the Skoda Kodiaq and Honda CR-V.
