Russians admit that the war has made their lives worse

Russians increasingly express outrage over the war

Almost half of Russian citizens have felt the negative impact of the full-scale war against Ukraine.

The war launched by Russia against Ukraine has negatively affected the lives of almost half of Russian citizens (47,6%). This is evidenced by the data of a sociological survey conducted in April 2024 by the Institute of Socio-Political Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Almost one in four respondents (23%) reported a deterioration in their physical and/or mental health. 12,4% of survey participants reported an increase in current expenses, and 4,3% reported that their relatives or friends had been killed or injured while participating in the war.

Problems at work were noted by 2,8% of respondents, the same number indicated the disappearance of familiar imported goods. Another 2,3% stated the deterioration of family relations due to differences in views on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Only 29,2% of respondents reported that the war had not affected their lives in any way. Another 9,6% admitted that their relatives or friends were participating in hostilities, and 2,3% expressed concern about the risk of mobilization.
