During the full-scale invasion of Russia in 2022, fighting for Maryinka continued almost continuously. During 9 months of fierce fighting, the Russian army was able to advance only a few kilometers, and by December 2022 occupied 3/4 of the city.
Maryinka is now a ruin: only the ruins of the buildings of the tax office, police, administration, RAGS, cultural center, church, park and music school remain.

There is no civilian population in the city - all residents were evacuated in November 2022 by the White Angels.
