South Korean President Yun Seok-yeol Impeached
In order for the head of state to participate in court sessions, it is necessary to resolve the issue of ensuring his personal safety.
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol will not attend the first official hearing of the Constitutional Court's impeachment case due to fears for his own safety. This was stated by the lawyer of the Korean leader Yoon Gapgen, reports Yonhap.
"As attempts to execute the illegal and invalid warrant for Yun's arrest continue, we are concerned about the personal safety of the president and possible provocations against him," the lawyer said.
He added that for the head of state to participate in court hearings, it is necessary to resolve the issue of ensuring his personal security.
As you know, the Constitutional Court plans to start oral debates in the trial on the impeachment of the head of state on Tuesday, January 14, and to hold a total of five hearings by February 4.
If Yun does not appear for the hearing on Tuesday, the court will have to adjourn the session and schedule a second hearing for Thursday, which could be held in Yun's absence.
