Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has promised to prevent the use of dramatic pages in the history of the Polish and Ukrainian peoples, in particular the Volyn tragedy, in political games. As the correspondent reports, Tusk said this in Warsaw at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We are finding common ground and ways of joint action, especially when it comes to the Volyn tragedy. And also all sensitive issues in our history require empathy from Ukraine, and also from Poland towards Ukraine,” Tusk said.

In his opinion, these should be parallel processes.

"I will not allow this dramatic story to be used in Poland for political purposes. We will work very consistently to quickly and systematically [solve] this problem. And thank you for your understanding. It took several years. Sometimes it disappears in political discussions, but there is this obvious problem and need of Polish families that must be solved in order to bury their loved ones who were victims of the Volyn tragedy with dignity," Tusk stressed.

The Polish Prime Minister added that this principle should apply to all parties, that "we understand this issue, that we are starting to speak in normal language and have made a decision."
