Subaru promised to release an SUV this year Forester with a "normal" hybrid powertrain (instead of a "mild" hybrid), and now there is an idea of such a system. The first to receive the new hybrid powertrain was 2026 Subaru CrosstrekThe new product will go on sale in the US in the fall, but key details have already been revealed.
2026 Subaru Crosstrek – is a series-parallel hybrid, it can move both on an internal combustion engine and on an electric motor. However, the car will not go far on pure electricity, since the capacity of the traction battery is only 1,1 kWh. The power plant includes a 2,5-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine with a capacity of 162 hp, an electric motor and a variator. The total system power is 194 hp.
The transition to a hybrid powertrain has not affected the model's ground clearance (it is 220 mm) and the all-wheel drive system (it will already be in the base). All technical details and equipment information will be published closer to the start of sales.
