Alpina took over BMW Group in early 2022 and is working on a new lineup, which is scheduled for release in the second half of the decade. In the meantime, Alpina has unveiled the B8 GT, the most powerful production car the brand has ever produced. Like the B5 GT before it, the flagship sedan uses an upgraded engine. The 4,4-liter twin-turbo V8 has been modified to produce 625 hp and 850 Nm of torque. That's 12 hp and 50 Nm more than the regular Alpina B8. It's just one horsepower less than BMW's most powerful gasoline car, the 626-hp M5 CS. However, it has an additional 100 Nm compared to the M5 CS.
It takes just 3,3 seconds to reach 100 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h takes 10,5 seconds. Top speed is 330 km/h. Alpina has refined the eight-speed automatic transmission, developed by ZF, to cope with the extra torque coming from the eight-cylinder engine.
Production will be limited to 99 units, but only 20 cars will be offered in a two-tone paint scheme combining blue or green with black. All cars will receive a subtle carbon fiber body kit that includes a more prominent rear diffuser.
The forged wheels from Alpina are 21 inches and are shod with Pirelli P Zero tires. In addition to special badges, the B8 GT has a full leather interior with wood trim. In Germany, the B8 GT costs 225 euros. For two-tone painting, they ask for an additional 000 euros. For this money, Alpina gives away two bags and a Swiss watch.
