A new car is not a cheap purchase. However, the costs do not end there, they are just beginning. Car maintenance and repair will definitely become a significant line in your family budget.
And some car brands will cost you a pretty penny. As Finance Buzz reports, Consumer Reports recently conducted a survey to rate the repair and maintenance efficiency of hundreds of thousands of cars on a scale of zero to 100, with 100 being the most reliable brand. Here are the car brands that performed the worst, says Oboz.yua.
Ford
Reliability rating: 44
Aside from the beloved Mustang, Ford is moving away from passenger cars and focusing on SUVs and pickup trucks. However, the survey shows that their reliability is below average.
genesis
Reliability rating: 40
According to Consumer Reports, Hyundai's luxury brand, Genesis, hasn't fared too well in terms of reliability. In addition, drivers complain about too complicated control elements in new cars of the brand.
Volvo
Reliability rating: 38
The Swedish brand Volvo is well known for its safety features. However, its models with a gasoline engine are already a little outdated. Drivers do not speak highly of their reliability.
Chevrolet
Reliability rating: 37
Chevrolet offers everything from SUVs and trucks to its famous Corvette. The brand also sells hybrid models. However, the car manufacturer, unfortunately, does not receive high marks in terms of reliability.
Tesla
Reliability rating: 36
Tesla electric cars offer impressive range, performance and access to a network of Supercharger charging stations, making them a dream for many drivers. Unfortunately, touchscreens for the main controls, inconsistent build quality and mediocre reliability can be drawbacks, especially for frugal buyers considering a used Tesla.
Volkswagen
Reliability rating: 34
Consumer Reports calls the controls that Volkswagen installs on its cars a potential problem. They were once considered the best on the market, but now they have become a problem.
Jeep
Reliability rating: 33
Thanks to its robust design, the Jeep brand has gained deep consumer loyalty. The brand's lineup includes the iconic Jeep Wrangler and SUVs like the Cherokee and Wagoneer. However, problems with fuel economy and reliability lowered the brand's rating.
GMC
Reliability rating: 33
The brand was described by Consumer Reports as a "renamed, slightly more upscale twin of Chevrolet SUVs and trucks." Unfortunately, the brand's models have many of the same reliability issues as the Chevrolet.
Cadillac
Reliability rating: 27
Cadillac is a luxury brand that is currently entering the electric vehicle market with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq. However, it doesn't get the highest marks for reliability.
Rivian
Reliability rating: 14
Rivian, known for its electric trucks and SUVs, offers practical range, impressive speed and unique features such as a spacious front trunk and Gear Tunnel on some models. However, its heavy reliance on on-screen controls and poor reliability ratings may frustrate thrifty owners, despite the high satisfaction of current drivers.
