Passengers on one trans-Pacific flight took off in 2025 and landed in 2024, thanks to a route that crosses nine time zones and the International Date Line.
The New York Post writes about it, reports TSN.

Cathay Pacific Flight 880 left Hong Kong minutes after the Chinese city rang in the new year on January 1, 2025. When it reached its destination after nearly 14 hours in the sky, the plane's passengers took a trip back in time, landing in Los Angeles around 22:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
The flight returned to 2024 when it crossed the International Date Line over the Pacific Ocean.
Flight 880 isn't the only one traveling back in time, and passengers have been known to book eastbound transpacific flights on New Year's Eve to celebrate the holiday twice.
However, there are travelers who missed the New Year altogether. Air New Zealand Flight 27 departed San Francisco on Tuesday night on New Year's Eve, but after more than 12 hours in the sky en route to Auckland, the plane will land in the early hours of January 2.
