The French capital's PR account stated that X was fueling hate speech and disinformation, and therefore it became impossible to use the platform.

The French capital is leaving Platform X due to the growing misinformation and hate speech on American billionaire Elon Musk's social network, according to a farewell post from Paris' PR account.

As the report notes, using the platform first became "difficult" and later "impossible."

The capital's PR account noted that X reduces the reach of factual and objective messages, as well as fuels hate speech and disinformation, which, coupled with the lack of moderation, has become a problem.

At the end of 2023, X was abandoned by Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, calling the platform a "scumbag" and "a weapon of mass destruction for our democracies."

“This platform and its owner are deliberately acting to exacerbate tensions and conflicts… Let’s not fool ourselves. This is a very clear political project that wants to abandon democracy and its values for the sake of powerful private interests,” Hidalgo wrote in her latest post.
