The Chinese Foreign Ministry informed Ukrinform about the negotiations.
The heads of foreign affairs departments noted the telephone conversation between the leaders of the countries, Xi Jinping and Trump, last Friday and assured each other of their readiness to implement the agreements they reached.
"The heads of state of the two countries have determined the direction and set the tone for Sino-US relations. The two teams should keep their promises, interact and manage differences, and expand cooperation on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation," the top Chinese diplomat emphasized.
He emphasized that the leadership of the Communist Party in China is the choice of the Chinese people, and the development of his country is aimed only at improving the well-being of the Chinese people and does not pose a threat to any country in the world.
"Our goal is to provide a better life for our people. We have no intention of surpassing or replacing anyone, but we will resolutely uphold our legitimate right to development," Wang said.
The Chinese minister separately emphasized his country's principled position on the Taiwan issue, recalled the US's commitment to adhering to the one-China policy, and called for a balanced approach to the Taiwan issue.
“I hope you will act accordingly and play a constructive role for the future of the people of China and the United States, as well as for world peace and stability,” China’s top diplomat said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry also quoted Rubio as saying that the United States and China are two major countries, the relationship between which will be decisive for the future of the world in the 21st century, so the American side expects to have frank communication with Chinese partners.
At the same time, Beijing emphasized the Secretary of State's statement that the United States does not support Taiwan independence and hopes that the Taiwan issue can be resolved peacefully, acceptable to both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Instead, a brief statement from US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce about the ministers' conversation emphasizes Rubio's words that the Trump administration will focus on advancing the interests of the United States and putting the American people first in its relations with China.
“The Secretary of State also emphasized the United States’ commitment to our allies in (Indo-Pacific – ed..) region and serious concerns about China’s coercive actions against Taiwan and in the South China Sea,” Bruce said in a statement.
There is no information in the parties' press releases about discussions on the settlement of Russia's genocidal war against Ukraine, which has been ongoing for three years.
