At the Tokyo Motor Show, Mazda showed the most powerful version of the MX-5 roadster (also known as the Miata) in the entire history of the model's production. As the publication reports The Drive, a new modification, called the 12R, was created with the active participation of the Mazda Spirit Racing racing division.
MX-5 12R specifications
The MX-5 12R Roadster is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine with a capacity of 197 horsepower, making this modification the most powerful among all factory versions of the MX-5. Important technical features of the car include:
- Six-speed manual transmission, which provides the driver with maximum control.
- Brembo brake calipers for an improved braking system.
- Larger diameter discs.
- Height-adjustable shock absorbers, allowing you to adapt the car to different road conditions and driving style.

External changes
Differences from the standard roadster include:
- Original front bumper, which emphasizes the sporty look.
- Rear spoiler, which improves aerodynamics.
- Forged wheels, which add lightness and strength to the structure.
Model exclusivity
The Mazda MX-5 12R will be produced in a limited edition of 200 units. This roadster will be available exclusively to buyers in the Japanese market, making the model even more unique.
