American billionaire and owner of the social network X Elon Musk said that the blocking of the social network TikTok in the United States of America violates freedom of speech. He wrote about this in X.

He noted that he “has long been against banning TikTok,” saying “it goes against freedom of speech.” He called the situation “unbalanced” when “TikTok is allowed to operate in America, but X is banned from operating in China.”

“I have long been against banning TikTok because it goes against freedom of speech. However, the current situation where TikTok is allowed to operate in America but X is banned from operating in China is unbalanced. Something needs to change,” Musk wrote.

To confirm his words that he was previously against the ban on TikTok, the billionaire recalled his post on the X network from April 19, 2024.

“In my opinion, TikTok should not be banned in the US, even if such a ban could benefit Platform X. It would be contrary to freedom of speech and expression. This is not what America stands for,” he wrote at the time.
