It turned out that the main reason for tomato seedlings to grow too tall is the increased soil temperature. When it rises above +22 degrees, the plants stretch out.
Experienced gardeners came to this conclusion after placing the same seedlings on a plastic windowsill next to a radiator and on a wooden one. Those plants that were far from the heating device grew strong and stocky, which could not be said about other plants.
As experts have noted, for seedlings it is necessary to keep the soil temperature at approximately 20-22 degrees, and as soon as the first loops appear, immediately lower it to 18. That is why it is recommended to measure the temperature in the morning and evening. As you can see, a regular soil thermometer is a "penny" thing, and the benefits are even greater than from expensive fertilizers.
