The new Skoda Superb liftback has become a plug-in hybrid. Previously, this version was only available in the Superb Combi station wagon.
The hybrid powertrain will include the usual set of a 1.5 TSI (150 hp) petrol “turbo four”, a traction electric motor (117 hp) integrated into the DSG “robot”, and a battery with a capacity of 25,7 kWh. The combined power of the system will be 204 hp, peak torque – 330 Nm. You should not count on all-wheel drive – it is only available in the most powerful non-hybrid “Superbiv”.
The electric motor in this scheme can either assist the internal combustion engine or operate independently of it, allowing for electric driving of over 120 kilometers. The hybrid battery supports DC charging with a capacity of up to 50 kW. In this case, it takes 10 minutes to charge from 80 to 26%, but from a wall outlet or AC column, a full charge will take two and a half hours.
The powertrain operating mode depends on the selected profile. In addition to the usual Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport and Individual, the Superb Hatch iV has special presets E-mode, Hybrid mode and Sport mode.
The hybrid's equipment includes second-generation LED Matrix headlights, Smart Dials with screens and a wide range of auxiliary electronics. Orders for the Superb Hatch iV will begin in the coming weeks. Production is scheduled to start in the second quarter.
