Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that US President Joe Biden has been taking negative steps towards Russia, European countries and the Donald Trump administration in his last days in office, Russian media reported.
During the year-end conference, Sergei Lavrov commented on the new US sanctions against Russia, which were introduced in 2025. According to Lavrov, these are Biden's last steps in office, who thus plans to show his attitude towards Trump and Russia.
"Democrats have such manners in American politics, to remind the next administration in the end. Now they want to simultaneously expose the pig, speaking in Russian, to both the Serbs and the Trump administration," Lavrov said.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also believes that the US is giving Ukraine the go-ahead to carry out attacks on the Russian energy infrastructure, in which it allegedly plans to destroy the Turkish Stream.
Recall that after the sanctions were imposed, Russia tried to circumvent them. However, on January 10, the United States expanded sanctions against Russia, including the largest Russian oil companies - Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz. In addition, about a hundred vessels of the Russian "shadow fleet" associated with the transportation of Russian oil, including the fleet of Sovcomflot and Gazprom Neft, were subject to restrictions.
