The first two NATO ships to patrol the Baltic Sea are already in the Gulf of Finland. They are launching the Baltic Sea Patrol project announced by the Alliance. The aim of the project is to prevent damage to critical infrastructure.

This morning, NATO posted images of ships in the Baltic Sea on the X messaging service. The update was identified as Baltic Sentry.

NATO sent the ships after an electrical cable and several communications cables were cut in the Baltic Sea over Christmas. The Eagle S is believed to have been involved in the cable damage.

Several other NATO warships, submarines, surveillance aircraft and underwater drones are also scheduled to arrive in the Baltic Sea.
