Administrative fines in Ukraine are the most common type of punishment for traffic violations, but in some cases a driver can avoid a fine by decision of the police. When exactly does the inspector have the right to replace a fine with a warning, the publication Tvoia mashina told.
These are minor violations that do not pose a serious threat to road safety. For example, if a driver was driving in the far left lane with the right lane clear or slightly crossed the stop line at an intersection.
In such a situation, the driver should suggest to the patrol officer to replace the fine with a warning in accordance with Article 22 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. However, it is important to understand that such a decision remains at the discretion of the police officer, since the law does not contain either a specific list of minor violations or an obligation to exempt the driver from liability in such a situation.
