Kia is looking to extend its automotive success into the world of commercial vehicles and is set to unveil its new PV5 electric van in April. The debut will take place at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2025 at the NEC in Birmingham, where UK pricing is likely to be announced.
According to NNews, the PV5 is a mid-size electric van that will compete with the Ford E-Transit Custom, Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo, and other similar models. Kia also plans to release models with a high roof, a chassis cab, a passenger van, and a robo-taxis.
Kia’s electric vans will feature advanced technologies such as the modular PBV platform design, which reduces the number of parts by 55%. There are also fast charging systems (150 kW DC) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technologies, which allow the vehicle to be used as a power source.
The PV5 will be the first step in Kia’s commercial electric vehicle strategy. In the future, the company plans to introduce the larger PV7 and the more compact PV1 models, as well as integrate artificial intelligence and autonomous technologies to create a “smart city”.
