ISW analyzed the Russian advance near three settlements

Russian troops advanced in the area of Toretsk, Chasovye Yar, and Borovaya.

This is evidenced by data from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Chasiv Yar

Russian forces have recently advanced towards Chasiv Yar. Geolocation footage released on January 15 shows that Russian forces have recently advanced within the Vognetryvky Zavod in the center of Chasiv Yar. On January 14 and 15, Russian forces continued to advance within Chasiv Yar itself and south of Chasiv Yar near Predtechyny, Stupochy, and Oleksandro-Shultyny.

Toretsk

Russian forces have recently advanced within Toretsk. Geolocation footage released on January 14 shows that Russian forces have recently advanced in northwestern and northern Toretsk. Russian military bloggers have claimed that Russian forces are advancing near Shcherbinivka (west of Toretsk), but ISW has not found any confirmation of this claim. On January 14 and 15, Russian forces continued to advance within and near Toretsk itself, as well as west of Toretsk in the Shcherbinivka area.

Hog

Russian forces have recently advanced northeast and southeast of Borovaya. Geolocation footage released on January 4, 14, and 15 shows that Russian forces have recently advanced north and northwest of Vyshneve (northeast of Borovaya) and west of Makiivka (southeast of Borovaya). On January 14 and 15, Russian forces advanced northeast of Borovaya near Novaya Krughlyanivka and Bohuslavka; east of Borovaya near Kopanky; and southeast of Borovaya near Makiivka, Hrekivka, Novosergiivka, and Tverdokhlibovye.
