Poland banned flights over its territory, and the Slovak plane had to change its route

A delegation of Slovak parliamentarians, led by the vice-chairmen of the Chamber, Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS) and Tibor Gaspar (Smer-SD), flew to Moscow on Sunday, January 12, for negotiations on gas supplies.

This is reported by TASR.

The delegation also includes MPs Marian Carey, Jan Mazgut and Richard Gluk (all from Smer-SD), as well as Adam Luchanskyi (SNS).

According to the head of the delegation, the agenda of the negotiations should include, in particular, the issue of natural gas supply to Slovakia and the war in Ukraine.

The plane, which took off from Bratislava and was supposed to fly over Poland, was banned by the Polish government from flying over its territory, which caused Slovak parliamentarians to pretend to be surprised. The route passed over the Czech Republic and Germany.

"I don't understand Poland's position, but I accept it as a reality," Danko said.

According to Slovak media reports, the Slovak delegation is expected to meet with representatives of the Russian State Duma and some members of the government.

The second head of the delegation, Danko, said that he wanted to bring information about life in Russia.

“I want to show that people live there too, that Germans, French, Americans do business there,” he said. This can be understood as meaning that Slovaks really want to prove that they are not the only ones communicating and doing business with the aggressor country.

The delegation wants to know whether Russia's Gazprom will be able to supply gas to Slovakia, despite the suspension of transit from Ukraine. It remains to be seen what the Kremlin dictator will demand from his allies for gas.

The prime minister of the country, which is dependent on Russia for energy, called the Ukrainian president a "blackmailer" and a "beggar" who travels around Europe and asks for money. He said this during his speech to the parliamentary committee on Friday, the video of which he posted on his Facebook page.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is "begging" Europe. He said this during his speech to the parliamentary committee on Friday, the video of which he posted on his Facebook page.

"I'm not here to go hand in hand with Zelensky. He's running around Europe, just begging and blackmailing, begging others for money. It's just time to put an end to this," Fico said.
