Two-time Olympic champion Dmytro Vasiliev has become the target of ridicule on the Internet after expressing confidence that Russian athletes will be allowed to compete internationally after Donald Trump will give the appropriate order. This was his reaction to the new statement of the International Biathlon Union (IBU), which stated that athletes from the Russian Federation will not be allowed to compete while the war in Ukraine continues.

"All this suspension will end after the end of the SVO (that's what Russia calls the aggression against Ukraine). Once that happens, Trump will give the order and those in the IBU and other organizations will quickly follow his instructions. I am sure that it will be so," said Vasiliev.

These words caused ironic comments among users of the Sports.ru portal. They noted that Vasiliev may have humiliated Putin in this way, because he placed his hopes on Trump, and not on the Russian president.
