In Bucharest, since January 10, there have been mass protests in support of the opposition candidate in the elections, Celin Georgescu, whose victory in the first round was annulled by the Romanian authorities through the court.
Supporters of Georgescu, who called for the withdrawal of aid to Ukraine and the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions, have been picketing the Constitutional Court building for the third day and demanding a second round of elections.
They were also joined by supporters of other parties who do not support Georgescu, but do not agree with the cancellation of the second round. In addition to holding a second round, people are demanding the resignation of President Yohannis. They also protest near the government building and the presidential administration.
This was done on the basis of signs of alleged "Russian influence" on his election campaign. However, so far no evidence of such an effect has been presented. Moreover, it turned out that Georgescu's campaign was financed by one of the Romanian parties.
Currently, new presidential elections of Romania are scheduled for May.
