Nissan has converted the classic R32 generation Skyline GT-R coupe to electric powertrain. The project, called the Nissan R32 GT-R EV, was initiated by veteran engineer Redzo Hiraku, who currently heads Nissan's powertrain division.
Hiraku is a long-time fan of the original Skyline GT-R, and while testing the e-4orce all-electric drivetrain, he wondered how the system could be used on a classic coupe. Now, his idea has been realized in the metal.

The Nissan R32 GT-R EV lost the RB26DETT turbo inline-six (280 hp, 353 Nm), five-speed “mechanics” and ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive transmission. Instead, two electric motors (on the front and rear axles) are installed, each of which develops 217 hp and 340 Nm. The total output of the system is 434 hp and 680 Nm. Instead of the rear row of seats, a 62 kWh traction battery from the Leaf Nismo RC 02 show car is installed. As a result, the GT-R has become heavier from 1430 to 1797 kg.

Externally, the electric Nissan R32 GT-R EV is practically no different from the original. Its body is painted in Gun Grey metallic, and the only sign of time is the enlarged wheels with tires of size 235/45 R18 instead of the standard 225/50 R16. This was done to accommodate the large brake discs and mechanisms from the more modern Nissan GT-R coupe of the R35 generation. At the same time, the new wheels stylistically repeat the original ones. The suspension has also been revised: Nismo Sports and Öhlins components have been used. The chassis has been retuned for the increased weight of the electric car.

Currently in the company Nissan There are no plans to release this remake. From the early days of development, this electro-mod project has been fueled by the enthusiasm of Rezo Hiraku and his small team, who have devoted all their free time to it.
