Chinese IT giant Huawei has unveiled an autonomous manipulator arm that can charge electric cars without a driver. To demonstrate the device, the company chose a Maextro S800 sedan that can find a charging spot on its own and, once it finds one, automatically park itself.
But there is one problem – the charging cable still has to be connected manually. Huawei has taken on this problem, thanks to the solution of which the person can be completely excluded from the process. The payment will also be debited automatically after the charging is completed, after which the car will drive off.
The demonstration robot arm was equipped with a 600-kilowatt Huawei station. Theoretically, it can charge a 100 kWh battery in just 10 minutes.

The manipulator looks futuristic, but mass production, according to Car News China sources, is not far off: it could start as early as the second quarter of 2025. “Smart” cars from BYD, Xpeng, Li Auto, Aito, JAC, and Great Wall will also be able to charge at such stations.
