The new Audi Q6 e-tron became the basis for an extreme offroad concept. The electric crossover was prepared for difficult off-road conditions. It will be officially presented on February 1, details were revealed during the ice race in Austria, and in the meantime, details of the car have been revealed on the German automaker's website, Focus reports.
For refinement, they took the Audi SQ6 e-tron Sportback coupe-crossover with a more rapid silhouette. The electric car is equipped with a standard all-wheel drive system with 517 hp and 580 N∙m, but its top speed was limited to 175 km/h. The 100 kWh battery also remained unchanged.
The “feature” of the Audi Q6 e-tron offroad is the portal axles, like those of the six-wheeled Gelendvagen and Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4. Thanks to them, the ground clearance of the SUV was doubled – to 324 mm. New gearboxes allow more traction to be transmitted to the wheels.
In addition, huge off-road tires were installed, which required wheel arch extensions. Thanks to them, the track increased by 250 mm. The Audi electric car is able to overcome 45-degree climbs. A roof rack and additional optics were also installed, and the bumpers became more aggressive in appearance.
For now, the new Audi Q6 e-tron offroad remains a concept. It is not yet known whether it will become a production model.
