Ilya is a soldier of the mobile fire group of the Kherson anti-aircraft missile brigade. On the night of January 7, 2025, the defender shot down an enemy attack drone of the "Shahed" type in the Mykolayiv region, aiming at an aerial target with a large-caliber "Kanik" machine gun.
This was reported by the Communications Department of the Southern Air Command.

Ilya - 55 years old, he joined the army only half a year ago - came to the territorial center of recruitment and social support and asked to be sent to a combat unit to defend Ukraine.
"Yes, I'm not old enough, but I can't sit back and watch the crimes of the occupiers!", Ilya emphasizes, "Today, everyone must defend Ukraine, and I'm glad that I have the honor of being a defender!"
For Ilya, this is the first downed "shahed", even in the sky above his native land, where the man was born and grew up.
"After this hit on an enemy UAV, I became even more motivated!" - the warrior smiles.
