A compulsory motor third party liability insurance policy remains one of the three required documents for drivers in Ukraine in 2025. Its absence during a police check may result in an administrative penalty for the driver.

If you have an insurance policy but left it at home, the fine will be 425 hryvnias. It must be paid within the first 15 days, otherwise the amount will double.

If the policy is missing or overdue, in this case you will have to pay 850 hryvnias.

Until January 1, some categories of citizens had the right not to issue a "civilian auto insurance policy", but now these benefits have been canceled. However, combatants, injured participants of the Revolution of Dignity, persons with disabilities of groups I and II, victims of the Chernobyl accident, as well as pensioners can receive a 50% discount on the registration of an insurance policy.
