Ukraine is now not ready for negotiations with Russia to end the war due to weak negotiating positions. The main reasons are the lack of weapons and the lack of guarantees that Russian President Putin will not start aggression again in a few years.
This was stated by the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, in an interview with the "Karpyak na Suspilny" project.
He emphasized that Ukraine needs to strengthen its capabilities with the help of partners. Yermak also emphasized the importance of combating Russian propaganda claims that Ukraine allegedly wanted war or provoked conflict. In fact, Russia started aggression, not even defending its own territory (it is the Kursk region).
In order to negotiate with Russia on an equal footing, Ukraine must be strong enough.
"It is important for Putin to continue aggression on our territory. Therefore, in order to start negotiations, Ukraine must be strong, and then it will be able to talk with the Russian Federation as equals. Because all that currently comes from the Kremlin is the language of ultimatums." said the official.
