Simple ways to determine low-quality milk.

Iodine, acetic acid and alcohol will help identify low-quality milk at home, nutritionists said, Ukr.Media informs.

They noted that unscrupulous manufacturers may add starch, soda, chalk and antibiotics to this product to prevent it from spoiling. It is worth being careful if, for example, milk has been standing at room temperature for a day and has not soured, experts noted.

Iodine will help determine whether there is starch in milk. We have to put a drop of it in the drink. If the product contains starch, the milk will turn blue or purple. If there is no starch, then it will be yellow-brown in color. There is also a separate test for detecting soda and chalk. If we drop acetic acid into good milk, it should sour instantly. If there is soda or chalk in it, then the product will not fall out in a flake, that is, it will not sour and not clump, but foam will begin to form, nutritionists explained.

The alcohol will help detect whether the milk has been diluted with water. To do this, you need to add 4 ml of alcohol to 2 ml of milk. In good milk, flakes should appear after two to four seconds. If more than six seconds have passed, the milk does not correspond to its declared concentration, the doctors concluded.
