Ukraine began to use modified HMMWVs capable of creating minefields from PTM-3 mines.
This is reported by Militarny.
The HMMWV received two launchers, each with 30 charges.
The installation is capable of firing a mine at a distance of 60 to 100 meters. PTM-3 anti-tank mines of magnetic action are placed in the tubes. The latter disable the wheeled and tracked vehicles of the enemy, destroying its undercarriage or hitting the bottom with a cumulative jet.
"When hitting a mine or driving over a mine, the mine is triggered due to fluctuations in the magnetic field.
The cumulative charges created by the explosion penetrate the interior of the tank, killing the crew inside or damaging the tank's systems.
If someone tries to move the mine while it is in combat position, it explodes due to the influence of the Earth's magnetic field. If the target is not detected, the mine self-destructs after the self-destruct period.
In this way, Ukrainian modified HMMWVs are capable of quickly creating dangerous anti-tank minefields," the publication's analysts explain.
