Young people under the age of 45 are mainly assigned to assault units, while older people (over 45) are assigned to support units, artillery and engineering troops.
Serhiy Monukalo, the head of the sector of defense and mobilization work of the Sumy Regional Territorial Center for Manpower and Social Support, spoke about the specifics of mobilization and the manning of military units.
In particular, he explained to "Suspilno" how the mobilized are distributed by age groups. Thus, people under the age of 45 are mainly assigned to assault units, while older people (over 45) are assigned to support units, artillery and engineering troops, as well as other structures of the Defense Forces, such as the National Guard, State Service or border troops.
"Young people under 45 are mostly sent to assault units. People older than 45 years — to support units, artillery, engineering troops and other structures of the Defense Forces, such as border guards, National Guard or State Service. he clarified.
According to Monukala, it is impossible to determine specific regions or units where mobilization is more active. Most recruits are first sent to training centers.
"After the military part, only those conscripts who served no more than 10 years ago, were released and are fit for health can be drafted. Approximately 90% of those mobilized undergo training in educational institutions before starting their service." - noted the representative of the Military Committee.
He added that the number of mobilized depends on the number of registered conscripts in a specific region. For example, in the Sumy region, one may get the impression that mobilization is more intense than in the western regions, but this is due only to the difference in the number of registered conscripts.
According to the military, the mobilization process is now carried out using the automated system "Oberig". For example, there may be more military units in Zaporizhzhya Oblast that need to be replenished than in Sumy Oblast, which affects the amount of mobilization in different regions.
"Everything depends on the needs of the state. If there is a need to staff certain units, it is done." Monukalo said.
Thus, mobilization remains a strategically important process aimed at meeting the needs of the front and maintaining the state's defense capability.
